Lab Assistant/Phlebotomist

Job Summary

The Lab Assistant supports the vision of the Total Healing Environment and the values of respect, integrity, accountability, commitment and quality by serving as the first point of contact with patient and employees in the collection of proper specimens for laboratory analysis. Works collaboratively with providers and staff from various YRMC departments, providing results that aid in the diagnosis and treatment of disease and the promotion of wellness.

Job Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or GED
  • Previous phlebotomy experience or verification of the completion of a phlebotomy internship or phlebotomy training program
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing providing excellent customer service
  • Basic computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Windows

Preferred Qualifications:

  • National phlebotomy certification
  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience preferred; Cerner strongly preferred
